If you have a good backup from sometime in the past on your Mac, a reset and restore is not such a bad thing (a bit time consuming, but in the end, no all that painful.)
However, don't fall into the trap I did.
I ran into a similar problem with my iPhone.
I only realized the REAL problem when the new iPhone I bought to replace it wouldn't play nicely with iTunes on my Mac.
To keep this short, the problem turned out to be something corrupted within iTunes on my Mac. When I did a fresh install of iTunes onto my Mac, all the problems vanished.
What upset me the most was the error messages coming out of the corrupt iTunes led me and Apple to believe I had a damaged iPhone. 
After all that, I tried the old iPhone again and it works perfectly. 
Hard lesson learned, the software can be a problem.

I posted awhile back that I had no issues after I updated my iPad to the latest upgrade, but I am having major issues that I just want others to be aware of, although I think it's a rare problem.

The issues I have now is that iMessage and FaceTime will not allow me to get in. Also, after troubleshooting the issue with a senior Apple advisor and resetting the Network on the iPad, I can no longer get into any wifi network that has a password, including my own. So now I am having to use my home wifi with no security in order to use it.

The other problem is that it will not create a backup either to the Mac or the Cloud. Restoring back to my latest backup is not working because it says there's not enough space on my iPad. I deleted every single photo on the iPad to make space (even the Photo Stream), but the usage says it's still taking up over 11 GB in photos.

I guess the last resort is doing a total reset, and losing what information I have within my apps, and entering all the emails and other such stuff.

Ugh... Not happy about this, but there are worse things in life that can go wrong, I suppose.
