I'll admit it's "different" but I don't think it's "refreshing" at all let
alone "appealing".
Metro looks like a rip-off of a child's play-rug, with those giant tiles
butting up against each other.
Looks garish & childish to me.

It looks like they wanted to do something "different for the sake of being
different" and "like iOS without being sued".

I'm also not fond of large icons + small text labels (out of scale,
grudgingly there at all).

I'm assuming (yeah, I know) that the busy-ness of the home screen can be
made less frenetic.

Is W8/Metro designed for someone to actually do *work* on, or just play?
I use an iPad (& its relatives) for play, I do work-y stuff on a Real
Computer at a desk, using a real keyboard & mouse.
