I agree, there have been some very out there and almost futuristic ideas. Perhaps they have a list of future goals that are tucked away and they potter with now, waiting for the tech to make it do-able?

I would *really* like to see a study that looks at:
1. What fraction of Apple patents eventually *actually appear* in Apple products,
and
2. Of the ones that *do*, what is the average (and standard deviation) time from patent grant to product on the shelf.
