Neither one of my vehicles has a built in inverter so I had to buy one. It cost me $18. I've been using it for over 15 years and I've never needed to buy anything since. I'm not about ready to buy a cord for each device I have.

I've been using an inverter for over 15 years and it fits the bill perfectly and it's also the most inexpensive solution. Nothing is cheaper than an inverter and it has the extra benefit of being able to charge anything.
