I had something come up rather suddenly that baffles me. I bought a new 1st generation iPad when the 2nd gen came out. It has worked flawlessly over the years. Last week, all of a sudden, it does not recognize anything plugged in to it's charge/data port. In other words, it does not take a charge, or interface to a PC any longer. It's almost like the connector on the iPad quit working. I have confirmed the cable that I was using is good, and there has been no physical damage to the iPad. I have performed a complete reset on the unit with no change. Something interesting is it will take a "trickle charge", even though it never shows it's charging. For instance, if it is left plugged in over night, the battery percentage will raise about 10%.
I guess it's time to retire it to the spare parts bin. My wife has a 2nd generation iPad that she received as an incentive that she doesn't use, so it's going to get used now ;-)
If anyone wants a 1st gen iPad with a problem, let me know.
