Re: [iPad] Re: Cut the Cord on Cable - Finally!

True, but they are very few, probably a handful that manage all the media, and in bed with politicians, etc.

The argument is basically that if all entertainment media was available everywhere, either boxed or online, piracy will drop heavily. Also that the numbers published as lost revenue by them is ridiculous.
Naturally there will alwats be those that steal, they are not the issue

Unfortunately, the big conglomerates are very much a part of the modern online world.  They will push and punish as much as anyone's law will allow.  They're not at all nice, but they're there.

He is a resident, so we are not harbouring him, and he is innocent till proven guilty.  He is also charismatuic, many quite like him actually, despite being clearly guilty.
The issues here that are wrong is that he was raided illegally, by the Police here at the request of the FBI.

Interesting stuff. the argumentys I agree with over piracy. others who favour illegal downloading say that the artissts actually get very little, its the big few that reap the money, and they work hard to keep entertainment media off the internet so they can cream it. Truth to those arguments. The big few media conglomerates like Sony BMG, etc are not living in the modern online world

I agree with parts of both sides

Wy would NZ want to harbor a thief?  Intellectual property is no different than physical property IMHO.  How many books would be written, movies produced, etc. if they weren't protected?  Stealing is illegal and immoral.
