what i did was take photos using soft button and hard button and holding phone normal, upside down, and bhoth horizontal ways, then copy to PC to test. Same with video

Prior to iOS5, all was well. photos were always correct orientation when sent to email, a MAC, a PC. In iOS5, Apple added support to take photos/video using the Volume buttons, since then, photos can be upside down or sideways when sent to others. Yes, it seems to be that way in Windows.Clearly some EXIF data is now incorrect since iOS5 but Apple devices don't have that issue. 
 
From memory (I will need to retest), if you take photos in landscape have the Volume buttons on the bottom left. Try that. Note that Windows users can rotate them quick and easy, which then stays as a permanent change.
 
I also note that some photos I sync to iPhone from PC and which are new or older digital camera sourced photos can be sideways. Rotate the phone and they wont fix, they stay sideways. Probably same iOS5 issue between EXIF data

To make that clearer, I mean orientation on the receiving end of the Email. It will look fine when I send it, but the recipient usually gets one that is upside down. I try to be careful where the camera eye is when taking a photo, but they are many times upside down on the receiving end...  I know this because I have my Mail set to send me a CC of my Emails sent from phone and iPad....
