And that decision is more of a marketing decision than a technical decision. I think that it's fair to say that just about any of the programs we use - whether they be authored by Apple, Microsoft, Novell, etc. - could have been written to run just as well under one of the competing operating systems, be it moving Aperture to Windows or CadRail or Vector CAD/CAM to OS X.BTW, to add something positive to this discussion
