Nobody else can build and market Apple-type computers, so there is no
competition for the Apple marketplace. It's a monopoly, if a person
wants the security that the closed Apple eco-system offers. Yes, one
can buy other computers (linux, windows) but within the Apple world
there is no competition. There was for a short while many years ago
when Apple licensed the ability to build/sell computers that were Apple
clones but that ended rather quickly. The licensing cost and other
restrictions were too high so as I recall only one company tried it, and
rather quickly descended into oblivion.
