Not for me. Handcuffs implies heavy restrictions.
I do not see heavy restrictions. I see a closed ecosystem/walled garden that gives a great deal of freedom, but with the knowledge that apps are quality controlled and vetted. Much less likelihood for buggy apps or malware. I feel that the heavy integration between iDevices and iTunes has been largely achieved by owning and controlling the whole shooting match.
If I HAD to use a limited choice of apps, for any given task, then that is another issue, but there are many apps there for any given function, 99% of them provided by you and me, not Apple.
