I did HDTV for a while for myself the lack of accompanying DVR is deal breaker for me. So I considered Myth TV. I tend to watch things later i.e. 4-8 episodes of a show a few weeks after they came on and don't like to wait for DVD releases, or watch late at night or early morning a few days after a lot of 30 minute shows come on. ONLINE works fine for me as long as I would pipe them into the nice TVs I have.
For the record I watch enough not on networks: Sons of Anarchy, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Futurama, Shameless, Luck, Doc Martin, Big C, True Blood, real time with Bill Maher, etc. etc. but most is on Hulu, Websites, etc. so I can watch it all online after my Mom passes. My Mom needs a remote to operate the DVR and physical TVs she is not watching anything online. If they get Google TV right it would save us a lot. But she finds about 40+ hours of TV a week on obscure channels TCM variations, Brittish channels, etc. re-runs of shows she missed years ago: Mad about You, Cybill, Lou Grant, Designing Women, etc. If you look at what her DVR is loaded up with for herself and my kids when they visit from Tokyo it spans all the obscure channels we pay for on FIOS to find things she has not seen she needs great variety. She watches DVD series too once she samples a few shows and decides an old or new series is good but a broad ranges. I specifically had to add 2 sets of channels to the package we had when she could not find anything to watch she had not seen several times already.

Don't forget that if you have HDTV, there are many stations available for free if you use an antenna. Or, you can just get the bare basic cable for about $17, like I do, and still get many channels without the crazy expense. Pair that with Netflix, and you've got enough to keep you busy.VickieSent from a spoiled little iPad2When my Mom dies I may eliminate paid TV and just feed PCs into TV and use Android Blue Play player for watching everything online through my various TVs throughout the house and only need broadband too.
