Re: [iPad] Photo App Surprise

Yes, you can put a pic in an album, but when you want to delete it from the camera roll, it will also delete it from the album. The only delete option seems to be delete everywhere. We are trying to find how to delete from the camera roll without deleting from the albums. I would like to do my deleting without going through syncing, itunes etc. seems like a lot of effort to delete one pic. LOL

Temporary or not there ought to be an option to move them from the camera roll to an album on the iPad or am I missing something?

Carl, I have the same question. Even if a pic is in an album, the only "choice" is delete everywhere. So if I delete it from the camera roll, it will also delete it from the album it was put into. I was looking for a "move" option, or a "no don't delete from everywhere" option.
Perhaps I am not looking in the right places.

Cathy,

The camera roll on a iOS device is meant to be a temporary container for your photos. In the old days when you went to the local pharmacy to develop film, they gave you all of your pictures in a envelope.

When you got home, you organized them. You gave some to family and friends (share). You put some in frames. You put others in photo albums.

When you was done, you would store the negatives and throw the envelope away.

On the iOS device, when a picture is saved on the camera roll, the picture is in an unorganized holding area. You may need it for mailing, printing or Facebook sharing. Remember you may capture things with the camera that is no a photo of a person or place you want to retain. If that is the case, you might delete it after it is shared, printed or otherwise acted on.

If the photo is indeed something you want to cherish, then you may want to organize it in an existing or new album.

Thanks,

Carl W. Brooks

Much to my surprise, when I tried to delete, the only choice that popped up was "delete everywhere" which I definitely do not want to do.
