This is the reason I decided to try out the NEXT plan this time. I like to have the newest model & the cost of this plan versus a two year contract is almost identical factoring in the early termination fee, difference in monthly fees & sale of the old phone. I'll know if it works as expected when the new phones roll out next year!

This may be a good reason to get a month-by-month no-interest-installment-payment contract ("Next", in ATT language), instead of a two-year contract. That way, it will be simple to replace the phone whenever a new model comes out.
