Didn't Telsa also receive a huge government handout to supposedly develop their vehicle??
I recall reading a series of books when I was a little kid. I don't recall the exact name but the hero was Tom Swift and he had an electric car in the early 20th century. The books were my fathers so they were probably printed back then.
