Windows and MacOS have file systems that you can see and use.You own the files, you do what you like with them, folders, etc.And you can choose what program displays/plays them.
.In iOS, the app owns the files, so theoretically, there is no need to have a viewable file system, as the files are owned, and live in the app. iBooks lists all your books, Goodreader if you had it, lists all the files you use Goodreader to view. Music lists all your music files, etc, etc.
Different, but when you get used to it, its ok. I dont have to manage all my iPhone/iPad files as I know where they are, in the one app that plays/reads them
Hope that helps

I know it has a file system but since I can't see it I can't use it. Tried the search but is does not search document (just tried again and checked the settings to see if I did have it set up correctly, no go)

IOS has a filesystem - we just can't see it.I am having trouble figuring out how to save and retrieving files. I don't have access to the cloud as often as I would like so I keep files on my iPad. I use several apps (pages, numbers, ianotative, ). So I feel like I have file all over the place. I sometimes forget if the file I need is a word, excel or PDF and have to go through several apps. I am used to windows and having a file system..
Am I over thinking? Is there a way to have file system? If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.
My participation is this group has been haphazard so if this has been discussed lately and I missed it sorry.
