Re: [iPad] iPad 1 - new user, don't know where to begin

This Apple support site (https://register.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/GlobaliReg.woa)  might allow you to re-register the iPad.  If you don't already have your own Apple ID, that needs to be your first step.  Otherwise, you can probably call Apple to have it changed.

To turn off the CNN notifications you can tap Settings>Notifications>CNN.  You will see a choice of banner styles where you can select "None".

This article will walk you through the steps to set up your Yahoo email account in the Mail app:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4810

I just inherited my Dad's iPad 1. I know I need to change the registration to my account... from what I read on line, this can only be done at an Apple store, is this corrrect?

In addition to having some interesting apps that I know I'll have to re-purchase for my self, when you pull down on the main screen, there's a list of CNN news alerts. How did he get them there? is this part of the Pulse app? I know he has Pulse, but I didn't see it on the main page as an icon.

I read my email through yahoo. I've figured out how to get to it via the Safari icon, but Dad also has an email icon - do I set that up to read my yahoo email?

I really don't know where to start on this, and I'm not even sure of the questions to ask - any preliminary information will be greatly appreciated.
