First of all, I'm sorry that you had to inherit it because that only means one thing.

Not necessarily. My kids have inherited several computers from me...

It should mean but one thing (after all "inherit" and "heir" derive from the same source), but sloppy English usage has broadened it to include, colloquially, this usage as well.
