First of all, I'm sorry that you had to inherit it because that only means one thing. Assuming that you have a computer, install iTunes on it and establish an Apple account with your own ID & password. You can then connect your iPad to the computer and set it up for yourself, however, all of your dad's information will be lost at that time. If there are some things that you want to save then that information needs to be copied before you do that. Pictures, address book, notes and tons of other stuff can be emailed to yourself before you do that. If you have a friend that has an iPod, iPhone or iPad then I would ask them to walk you through everything. Losing family memories, pictures and information is not reversible so take it slow.
