Nice machine! Thunderbolt ports meant a FW800<--> Thunderbolt adapter. All done in about 1 1/2 h for data transfer. It is all running great, edited photos this morning in minutes and not 10's of minutes! NO BEACHBALLS!!! (Windows users: think 'Hourglasses") None at all! WHEEEEEEE!!!

That sounds like a pretty good life expectancy for a computer. My experience (so far) is that it’s usually thanks to periphery that I need a new one. For example, I’m now longing for a laptop with a USB 3 instead of just the USB 2 that my current one has. ;-)
