My experience is that if I look at the iPad2 and the new iPad side by side, the difference in resolution is really no big deal at all, but if I use the new iPad exclusively for several days and then use the iPad2, the difference seems much greater. If I continue to use the iPad2 for a few days and go back to the new iPad, I am again amazed at the difference. An interesting phenomenon.
The iPad2 is, in any case, a wonderful device, but the retina display on the new iPad would be the best for anyone doing primarily graphic work where tiny details need to be seen well. This would be the case for post processing photos, but I don't know if it would be necessary for quilting or not.

I truly cannot see a big difference between screen resolution between
ipad2 and ipad3. To me the big difference was and is the camera.
