Re: [iPad] Re: So what may be the future of apple tv?

I wanted to use the iPad to Remote into it to get the accursed remote out of the pic.

That did not work over Ethernet but did work quickly and well over WiFi.

I still would argue that 1 button on the ipad and 1 button on the apple TV should link the 2. Once that happens if I could use the iPad to control the Apple TV great and never see that cursed remote again. But for someone without an iPad that means they have the worlds worst remote with a very bad UI not a typical Apple experience.

I also felt the fact I had to turn on home sharing to be very pre-iCloudy solution. I don't have iTunes on any of my PCs so I had to install iTunes and turn on Home Sharing. This added a lot of time.

The fact I had to login with my iCloud / iTunes account is a nightmare with a remote my email address is long i.e.
and my password long and has punctuation, mixed caps, numbers, etc. and on that remote anyone but me in my family would have given up.

In an ideal Apple world, I would just have 1 button on Wintel PC or Mac PC and 1 button on iPad and 1 button on Apple TV when I pressed them the AppleTV  it would read my cloud credentials from iTune or iPad and not make me enter it on a bad UI with a horrendous remote.

Also the airplay icon is hard to find one has to know about
1) double click home  (I do many don't)
2) swiping left on task list (I do, many do not)
and even then the AirPlay icon is small and obscure and the wording confusing.

I still did not do what I really wanted to have my iPad use my hiDef TV as a main screen or 2nd monitor I can only use the awful Remote software which is better than the horrendous remote and its not clear without some googling and reading I can't just click a button and display my iPad on my HiDef TV.

I would not mind the bad UI if I could just run NetFlix on my iPad and hit one button and have it on my TV but it ain't that simple.

Mine auto recognizes Abd auto switched to the Ethernet when it's in. I did it once at my new house.
