You're right!

Camera Roll - This seems to be the place that most pictures go. Screen grabs, wallpapers, iPad camera pictures... pretty much anything that's not an imported photo.
All Imported - Any pictures you import
Last Import - Just an album (no, I didn't use the word folder) that gets created to show pictures in your last import

Check your computer settings under Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\AutoPlay. The Apple iPad should be listed under "Devices". I have mine set to "Ask me every time".
