You don't have the same control over photos because iOS doesn't have the same file system as Windows. There are two places that pictures go to - Camera Roll and Imported Pictures. You can select photos from those two places and create new albums, but that doesn't move where the file is stored. If you look at the number of photos on your iPad, you can select everything on the Camera Roll and put it in a new album. This doesn't increase the number of pictures stored on your iPad.
This is why when you delete pictures from the Camera Roll or Imported Pictures, they will be Deleted Everywhere.

These are not photos that I take with the iPad, which I find cumbersome for picture taking. These are photos from SD cards from my various digital cameras. How long do those Imported photos stay in that first Imported Album? If you import many, it must take up a lot of space. I do not feel like I have control over the photos like I do with my Acer netbook, which is what I travel with now... Millie
