This happened to me too. I know how he must feel. Simply google cracked iPad screen repair. This is something apple certified repair outfits around the country do routinely. Find one near you if possible. It'll cost about $200 for the repair total. Mine came back as good as new. Yes, they can put Humpty back together. 2 bills is better than having a cracked glass or having to buy another one IMO. Good luck.
