Go to iTunes and DL the iPad guide. Read that and you will know quite a bit.
There are many ways to do what it is you wish to do. You really need to ask one question and let us help you with that. Take it slow. There are many apps out there that allow you do all sorts of amazing things.
You mentioned Jailbreaking. That can be a complicated subject. Your success depends upon many factors like which version of iOS are you running or do you have an iPad 1 or 2?. If 5.0, you will have problems because there are no untethered JBs out yet for that iOS version. Just lots of idiots selling iOS 5 JBs and taking advantage of new users.
That said, the JB for iOS 5 will soon arrive, so you will not have long to wait.
So you really need to learn a bit more about JB before you decide to do it.
