If you want to add a phone you'll have to go to the store or talk to someone on the phone; however if you want to replace your existing phone and it takes a sim card you simply remove your sim card from your old phone and put it in your new phone. That would be a service like ATT TMobile or any service that uses phones that take a sim card
ie not Verizon or Sprint.
I think with ATT you can add a phone online on your account page but you have to have a sim card. With Verizon or Sprint they have to activate the phone for you at their store.
