[iPad] Re: OK to leave charger plugged in?

It takes less than a watt so leave a light off in the house somewhere for an hour a month and you are covered. It takes so much less power to run the iPad than a laptop or desktop that you are already way greener than you can imagine. The real power wasters are the UPS Battery backups that take 15 to 25 watts of power constantly to keep the circuits powered up and the battery charged. I unplugged a few in my office and saved about 25-30 Kwh a month on my electric bill. The iPad only takes about 4 watts to operate once it's battery is fully charged and 2 watts if the screen goes dark.

The amount of power when not connected to the iPad is so small that the electric meter will not even move. If it was using 1 watt of power (it uses less) and left on all the time it would cost about $0.15 a month for the typical electric bill.
