its not glass, it's sapphire glass, which is significantly harder to scratch than steel on the moh's hardness scale. harder than sand even (unless you sand has diamond, garnet or corundum in it). we never got one. we take good care of ours, no screen protector, no scratches yet. i do place one on my iphone which uses the same sapphiric glass, but i will place garnets in my pocket with it and pick up rocks etc...
