Mine works very well, too.  To get it working even better under iOS 9, I deleted it in Settings and created a new one.  That made it even better than before.

I seldom use the fingerprint sensor.  Much simpler just to tap out the passcode.

No idea how others feel, but for me fingerprinting will be useful only when any part of any finger can be used from any angle.

After using it for a little while, I discovered that I use the same finger, in nearly the same orientation, more than 90% of the time.

And since it is usually faster than entering the passcode, I use it all the time.

It also unlocks 1Password for me, which has a 13-character unlock code otherwise.
