That was me, Pete. Thanks for your suggestion, but it wouldn't have worked for me. For one thing, I don't have a "Profile" under General.
I took the easy way out - wiped the iPad and reloaded from the cloud. Took a little time, but couldn't have been easier, and now I have a brand-new software environment again. All's well.
By the way, I remember that one or two people suggested VPN apps that they'd used and liked. I've saved those messages to refer to when I install VPN again. I'm leery now of Onavo, after my recent experience - possibly unfairly, since I, and not Onavo, may have been the culprit in this case, but.... - and want to try something else. All thoughts will be gratefully received.
Someone in this group had a problem with a VPN that kept trying to connect even after the VPN app was deleted. I think I ran across the fix by mistake. Go to Settings > General > Profile ant then tap on the VPN profile and tap Remove. Once it is removed you can reinstall the app or try a different app.
I've tried a few of them and VPN Express is my favorite.
Pete
