Well, I have my elderly parents who live with me and having only cellphones does not work for them. I'd love to get rid of the landline, but I do like having it as a back up. We have a bundled package with Internet and cable. I am looking at some alternatives, but it is unlikely that I'll give up the landline for the foreseeable future.Elaine
I'm keeping my landline.
Not only is it a copper wire coming to my home, it comes in from a different direction, on different poles, than the electrical power does.
If your "wireline" telephone service is provided by splitting off from a cable modem, your phone is out when your power is out.
When my power is out (3-15 days a year, between hurricanes, blizzards, and windstorms), my wireline phones still work.
