Maybe he was a protective case maker. :)

LOL, well there is. From what I have read and watched, there is indeed a weakness right below the volume buttons on that same side. I am sure if that point wasnt a weak point, the strength would be fine, but it is weak there.
Yes, the dude did force it to get it to bend, but on other phones, including the 6, it was fine. Those who have the issue have it in their pocket, much as they did with previous phones, it seems that if there is less pressure (as compared to hand bending it) but the less pressure is there for an extended period, where it warms due to body heat, it can bend slightly at that weak point.
To place a large device in a pocket where it can be stressed, or can inadvertently be sat on, is a bad idea, irregqardless of this so called bend-gate. If you use it on pockets that are loose, it will be fine. Its still strong, but it has a weakness IF you stress that.
AND if you watch the video, you will see that all the other phones, his thumb amnd finger are in the middle, on the 6 Plus it is on the edge, as if trying to take advantage of that weak point. Then like a trickster he reminds us aftyer that, that he had the finger and thumb in the middle. So the bend test on the 6 Plus was contrived, so while I firmly believe there is a weak area, My belief is half what it "appears" to be

From that article:
"We've seen just a few people complaining about it on the internet so far. It doesn't seem to be a genuine structural problem with the phone."
Oh, OK. No problem. It's a feature, not a bug. They're supposed to bend. Flexible Fones.

A man goes to a tailor to try on a new custom-made suit. The first thing he notices is that the arms are too long.
``No problem,'' says the tailor. ``Just bend them at the elbow and hold them out in front of you. See, now it's fine.''
``But the collar is up around my ears!''
``It's nothing. Just hunch your back up a little... No, a little more... That's it.''
``But I'm stepping on my cuffs!'' the man cries in desperation.
``Nu, bend you knees a little to take up the slack. There you go. Look in the mirror--the suit fits perfectly.''
So, twisted like a pretzel, the man lurches out onto the street. Reba and Florence see him go by.
``Oh, look,'' says Reba, ``that poor man!''
``Yes,'' says Florence, ``but what a beautiful suit.''

I wonder if the person was trying to see if it would bend. I can't imagine sitting for twelve hours on anything but who knows but then I can't imagine sitting for 12 hours without my body protesting which is why I dread long plane trips..

It strikes me that keeping something that expensive in your trouser pocket is just plain stupid but I spent less than a tenth of the price on my second hand Nokia. I keep it in a leather pouch tightly attached to the strap of my messenger bag. I found I needed to keep it within a reasonable distance of my ears, so as to hear it ring! :D
