I updated all of my devices without incident which was certainly a relief after yesterday!  The update is small & was a quick process.

No, there is nothing there. It says the "software is up to date" and yet it thinks there is something there. 

Is there a way to clear the problem? 

The first thing to try is a hard reset.  Hold down the Home and On/Off key together for several seconds until the Apple logo comes up.  Then release.  I've found the reset can clear up a lot of little OS blips.
