I think the gist is that a rented movie cannot be legally format shifted. If you rent a redbox DVD you gotta watch it that way.

Sheesh... can't believe this is still going on! I was the original Poster. All I wanted to do was put a movie onto my iPad so I could view it on an upcoming flight. And after all of this, I still don't know how to get it on my iPad. I also have a DVD that I've purchased. Can I legally transfer THAT to my iPad? How?
