Nah they'd just be ad supported or in apples model they'd be hardware supported but they'd be supported somehow. Not that free means free.

If upgrades had to be free, pretty soon there wouldn't be any, or the "base
price" would go up to allow for it, or (e.g. walker) it wouldn't be covered
by insurance.
