Nor did I -- I had an original Kindle (with keyboard) and was enjoying
reading with that but knew it wasn't the best possible. Then I got my
wife a Paperwhite/3G(no ads) for Mother's Day and was blown away by it
(she was, too!) so I asked for one for Father's Day and got it and the
magnetic cover. So now I'm re-buying in ebook format books I want to
re-read and my wife and I are about to get rid of a lot of paper books
which we haven't looked at in years.

As I mentioned before the only drawback to the PaperWhite that I can see
is the limited memory and the processor's sluggish ability to display
the list of books when it grows very large.

I can understand David's frustration with highlighting on it -- I don't
do any highlighting, so I don't run into that frustration. The iPad is
so much better for that sort of thing.

I wonder if the reason that none of the e-ink readers are very fast is
simply the technology -- it may simply be a case of it being a lot
faster to turn pixels on and off than it is to make little balls flip
over. And Apple may well not have any better luck with the speed issue
due to the physics, which may be why they've completely bypassed the
e-ink field.
