If you use a magnetic cover you on your iPad you don't need to "slide to
unlock." Otherwise it will always show up as a means to reduce the
potential for battery drain if the power switch is accidentally bumped
when you don't mean to turn it on.
Same with the iPhone -- it's so the device can't be inadvertently turned
on and leave you with no battery when you actually want to use it.
