If you don't tell the device/app that you are "leaving, to resume
elsewhere" -- i.e. sync it up -- how is it supposed to know?
I just sync from the page I'm on, that seems to work OK, last time I tried
it anyways.
Haven't done any audiobks that way, don't have any audio+kindle books & not
interested in that particular experiment.

I was having syncing problems and here is how I resolved. When I finish
reading I don't leave the book open I go to the library page (home) and
press the sync button. It is a pain and takes extra steps but I am usually
only a paragraph or two, depending on formatting within apps, away from
where I stopped.
I haven't tried the audiobook sync yet, I have about 5 books that have this
option but haven't tried it.
