My AT&T new iPad gave 29.92 download and 12.43 upload in Phoenix on LTE.
on what they call 4G about the same as Jim's 4S.

How fast the service is, is a big thing for me. I chose Verizon for my iPad because they have LTE and I can use it in my area.

Have you actually  measured your download speed with an App like "Speedtest.net Mobile Speed Test"?

I have, for example, measured a high of 7.85 Mbps download / 2.05 Mbps upload on my AT&T iPhone 4S.
