First of all don't tell me what I need to buy, I know my own needs better
than you.
You apparently want/need something that isn't on the market
(and may or may not have enough demand for someone to
make it & actually make $ on it -- try some market research!)
Either the new devices (from whatever vendors, using whatever OS, etc.)
will or won't meet your exact specs (or will be "outrageously priced") &
like most of us you will probably just have to compromise somewhere
about something.
I will not complain about outrageous pricing. i will pay when they get it right. Most of the things i use are really close to what I want but I am not a jingoist and don't have StockkHolme syndrome so just want some tweaks to what I have.
There are things I'd like devices to do too -- I'd *really* like Bones's
medical tricorder, it certainly beats spending hours under assorted scanning
machinery playing corpse (for anything from 20sec to 45min at a time) -- but
I cope with what *is* available and cheer the advances I've seen just in the
past few years. (I was so happy when the touch-screen came along -- I never
did quite get the hang of the click-wheel.)
I cope too. But I can complain and dream and its not a crime or a basis for people to diss me here. The triCorder is coming soon now that smart phones transitioned to full PC power. All the pieces exist. Wearable biometrics, with better bluetooth, is the missing link. Me I love scroll wheels but left right scrolling and click wheel I have not mastered yet. I like touch very much.
I recognize your total superiority about computers & operating systems but
unless & until you actually *do* something about getting the
exact-specs-device-you-want made (try Kickstarter!) am not particularly
interested in your snarky rants or impressed by your bombast. Me, I'm just a
backward non-skyper (I have a hardware block on my laptop computer cam)
who doesn't remote-in to anywhere, doesn't do fancy messaging sessions,
I don't even do Netflix! (I do sometimes use AppleTV for Airplay or Youtube)
I have done quite a bit you don't know who I am. And plenty of people who 'did nothing about it' benefit from innovations. You are now getting like the open sourcers that demand anyone who complains 'fix it or shut up' I prefer to complain and if vendor listens great they will get more business over time from people who don't complain but want what I do or a competitor will arise and force them or steal their business. I prefer iPads to Android but if an Android tablet gets mouse support before iPad 3 or 4 or 5 and I want a Tablet to hook up to work remote desktop/TeamViewer I will buy one + an iPad.
I'm looking forward to whatever is announced about the iPad3 (or whatever
they call it, whenever), the excitement over whatever is new about it (and
the "why isn't it more better" comments), and the reams of complaints about
why they didn't include <pick your favorite "why didn't they..."> since,
well, after all, it would be "so easy" (& presumably cost-free as well.)
It should be a highly entertaining discussion (for a while, anyway.)
Agreed. Any new iPad is exciting. As are the existing iPads.
