At this point it would be important to find out *from the school* what they
are using & how they are interfacing with student work. I'm sure other
students *at that school* can offer tips too.

I would second this recommendation -- but with any of the iPad products
you will have trouble if you need to use intense macros in your
documents or advanced features and formulas in your spreadsheets.
But in my experience Docs-to-Go seems to work the best with Microsoft
Office apps.
