My wife and I share an Apple account.
I have an iPad1 and we've just gotten her an iPad2.
With the exception of "Find My iPad", all iCloud components are turned off.
She has her own copy of iTunes on her PC laptop while I use a separate copy in the PC desktop computer.
I did the initial load of her iPad by synching my iTunes to it. Since that time, her iPad has not been connected to the desktop.
Since her reading tastes differ somewhat from mine, she began rearranging and deleting "Collections" from her iBooks on her iPad. Suddenly, my collections on the iBooks in my iPad changed to her selection of collections. Books in the collections she removed reverted to the "Books" collection on my iPad.
It's really going to be a major PITA trying to reorganize my collections back to close to what they were and I don't know of a strategy that will allow us to maintain our own sets of collections.
An additional note: She was doing a synch this afternoon while I was reading a book on my iPad. I had not done a synch. I noticed the collections problem only when I'd finished a book and wanted to move it from my "Currently Reading" collection to the collection for that author. A further note is that the book I wanted to move from currently reading disappeared from that collection and I found it in a collection my wife had created.
We were both linked to our home wifi net at the time.
I've got a call into Apple support for Monday, but I was wondering if others had encountered similar problems.
[iPad] iBooks Problem
Re: [iPad] ios question
Didn't the iPad start out with iOS4.x?
or am I misrembering that I had to update it (still haven't gone to 5).
My 2nd gen Touch won't go past 3.x but it still works just fine for what it
does.

Yes, you have to upgrade to the later OS if you want the particular app(s).
I get this on my gen 1 iPod except it can't update past 3.xx.

How do I get that onto my iPad, or do I need to upgrade of iPad 2?
Re: [iPad] Re: IPad cases
Agreed, but I disliked how I'd have to undo the snap closure to access my wallet side.even after telling happy about it and my idea to change a little location of the snap, it's still the same.
From my little technological bit of heaven, iPad2!

The Storyist is a writer's app for the iPad. I've installed it but
haven't had time to work with it so I can't say if it's easy or hard to
work with but it seems to have a lot of the same sorts of things that
other writer's programs have.

Have you looked into "The Storyist" app at the iTunes App store? I've
installed it but haven't had time to really work with it. It seems as
if it can do a lot of what LSB does on the computer.
I've been playing around with the ioDock and a Shure SM57 mic and see
that it has lots of potential. I was using Meteor multitrack recording
app for my first experiments.
I did also get the iRig guitar adapter to go with Samplitude and that is
a very good device as well. I may get the iMic to go with it, or I
might simply invest in a good small pre-amp to use with my existing
mics. I'll keep you posted.

[iPad] Re: anyone using a Switcheasy Canvas case?
I'm on my 2nd Switcheasy. The 1st one broke along the corner when we tried to remove it from it's plastic shell (AT&T did when we put a 3G SIM in it).
I like it because it does not make my iPad look like an iPad. Once someone tried to take it from me because they thought it was a menu!
It does take some break-in time withe the latch especially, but it does have the auto shutoff feature when closed.
My only other note would be the weight, I think it has to add almost 12oz. To the iPad.
There was a YouTube Vedic eval and comparison that may be helpful.
Cheers,
Rick
