There will always be the same photos on my drive taking up space (optimized or not) and stored in iCloud.Turning on optimization makes it so when I tap on a photo, I see a timer before the photo gets full screen. Does that mean the photo is downloading? What's the sense of using iCloud for storage when what's in iCloud is also on my iPad? iCloud Photo Library automatically keeps all your photos and videos in the original, high-resolution version. Follow these steps to choose how you store your photos and videos on your device:

Since there is no small cloud picture in the bottom right corner of each of my photos (as there is in iTunes when looking at my purchased movies) to indicate each photo is only in iCloud and not on my iPad, are photos stored in iCloud and my iPad?
