Re: [iPad] Thinking About the iPad Pro

App?

I searched for torrent and got no downloader, just a sync option. Videos, thats true, I didnt say otherwise though, you just need another app, and have a device that is fast enough to play as iOS wont allow you to use hardware acceleration. Tks Apple

iDownloader and zBIGz website? Yep, that is a workaround. 8 step process, that on reflection I may as well use my rMBP and sync to it!
But good to know of another iOS workaround.

The test is to forgo the PC, Mac, etc and see how that goes. For some they will be fine, for others, it will be working around iOS, for others it will a PITB

I just don't get why there is such a response by some about what is effectively, is the iPad a laptop replacement? It isn't, by a long way thats not its purpose. It doesnt have a full OS like OSX, and while that isn't the core issue, iOS is hobbled by design, presumably to do with cannibalisation.

So it remains as a very cool device, aimed at consumption, so it wont bite Mac sales

Torrents can be downloaded on an iOS device.

And multiple format video files can be watched on an iOS device.

Both without jailbreaking your iOS device.

You're not trying hard enough Tony!

You suggested I read one review of a guy that uses his iPad to manage his website, and for his work and consumption. Managing a website is easy you don't need a big screen iMac to do that. Your reply implies its a device that we can use for work and consumption. The reality is, its a consumption table, as many here say over the years. That some peoples use case means they can get away with only an iPad means that their use cases don't need a real computer, so great for them

As for your last comment I will assume that you take offence at anyone saying negative things about the iPad.

I wont give mine up either as its only a tablet that has restricted capabilities. I use mine for consumption. I use it for what is was designed to be, not cannibalise the MBA an MBP range. If I want to download a torrent of he GP2 race I forgot to record I can't do that. Ill need to download it on a PC, copy to iTunes, sync iTunes, then I can watch it. Lot of hassle for a simple task. There in no uTorrent app for the iPad. If I wanted to write a lot, the iPad is not convenient. You can't do all your work on it, thats the point. The creation that it can do, can be anywhere from ok, to clunky.. YMMV

But to provide one link to one person who supposedly only uses an iPad, isn't relevant. Its not a reflection of what everyone does.
