and OSX on a tablet can dispense wth  lot of crud. Easier to make iOS have no restrictions so you can do what you wish, best of both worlds

I've got touch on my Pixel Chromebook and use it all the time for scrolling the screen and such, much handier than using the trackpad imo.  Frankly to add minimal touch-ability to OS X wouldn't add much to the code at all.

Agreed. Yea gorilla arm would be a problem. I think it's the wrong way to go. But, that said, it's possible.
