Re: [iPad] Thinking About the iPad Pro

There you have it. You assume I have a dislike or a disenchantment over Apple features. That is not correct. Some who have lots of Apple love might feel that, as they tend to get offended when any anti Apple stuff is said. Apple Defence Force as seems to be mentioned more and more these days, defensing Apple as if it was god.   Apple , like everyone doesnt make perfect hardware software firmware or features or design.

This thread started off by me saying  that the Ipad Pro is just a big iPad, it offers little more then the smaller iPad. Screen is bigger, good, pencil, handy, thats it. iOS is the same

I have an iPad, I have no issues with it. Its great.. I have issues with those who see the iPad Pro being the productivity device that will change everything. Then saying that they get used as cash register at the mall down the street as if to justify that. Its just a big iPad, with the same cool things that make the iPad great and the same things that make it restrictive, iOS

But I can put my Apple fan-ness aside and commentate my opinions, positive or negative, rather than love and support Apple by default

My question is why do you use Apple products if you have so many concerns or complaints about them? There are other options.

Cheers for the extensive reply, Chris..

iOS is not that small and lightweight. It runs apps well. adding missing features such as copying files directly to it and not via iTunes or sending files around the world doesnt need OSX. Playing my video using the GPU doesn't need OSX. Sharing a file any way I wish to doesnt need OSX.
Allowing me to have an app on my iPad that I can acquire for my Mac without Apple blocking it, is what I want, thats doesnt need OSX

I wish to do what I can on my Mac, on my iPad, accepting that the smaller screen makes it not so good, accepting that a tablet OS will do some things differently.. But I cannot. Somethibngs cannot be done, some things require klutzy workarounds. because Apple doesnt want us to have a computer experience on a tablet, so we end up with a lite computer a junior computer. If Apple makes real computers and we can do all these functions whats the issue? It doesnt take a 15GB install to stop hobbling iOS. Its just made lite, I assume for anti cannibalism. So, iOS is primarily for consumption as you say, I agree. Its not because its too much CPU and GB to make a real OS, iOS is a real OS.

Can they both be used for creation, yes. No one disagrees wih that. Would you want to work all day long on various tasks on an iPad, no way. On a Mac it easy . On a Mac you can do whatever you want if it exists, in iOS you cannot for artificial reasons.

My point is this, an iPad is for consumption primarily, dont pretend it is also as capable in creation as it isnt. Put a 13 MBA and a 12.9 iPad Pro side by side and lets all try it doing anything and everything we do every month. For those that play games and do email and websurfing yes that will work. Sure you might find a app thats typically not lite that creates music or does some editing thats cool. Thats makes the iPad the next big thing in prodiuctivity? No.  Telling me that they use iPads as cash registers is totally irrelevant to this thread, its beyong replying to.

But at the end of the day the comments here dont reflect elsewhere on this topic, and some exceptions noted. There is a lot Apple love here, thats very evident, but ok.
