Speed of computation is a major part of what MAKES a computer. The current iPhone benchmarks out as better than a Cray 2 supercomputer was, back in the day.
The iPad Pro is the fastest, most capable device device that runs iOS, and roughly matches or beats some of the LAPTOP computer competition benchmarks.
This means, for example, that image editing is quite feasible on the iPPro, where it isn't really on my 4th-gen iPad, or my wife's iPad Air.
Video editing with iMovie is about equal on iPPro and Macbook Pro, although there isn't a Final Cut Pro equivalent for iOS yet.
Uses requiring typing depend more on the keyboard chosen than on the display in use.
