Thats misleading, as texts is a word that relates to SMS, and if someone use the word text as a generic phone to phone message, that ends up being wron, and confusing people

Text use a telco plan to send SMS text from any phone to any phone

iMessage uses Apple servers to send a message from iOS to iOS phones

Whatsapp, etc uses the app to send a message from users of that app to users of that app

Pat, my iPad does have a cellular plan. Just seems so weird to me that it would be this difficult to text between an iPad and an Android.

It's not difficult on a cel plan iPad. Only on a wifi iPad.

My Verizon cellular iPad is incapable of sending SMS text messages in the absence of an iPhone to send them through.
