If only to stay aware of the eider tech landscape, Windows - and Linux et al. - ought to be part of our knowledge base.If only…The track of my personal involvement in computers, from Fortran in 1967 to Varian in 1969 to Radio Shack in the 1970's to Amiga in the 80's and 90's, finally to Macs in 1998 — has never detoured through Windows, and only to a microscopic extent through Microsoft.So for me, and those like me, *history* is the only reason I need to know much of anything about Windows.
