Re: [iPad] Export Files From iPad

Cautiously yes.

I forgot the ways that I have tried and if they brought success. So please consider my ways as inspiration rather than as secure how-to.

1)  I seem to remember that the Camera Connection Kit (30-pin connector, not succeeded by a Lightning connector) did recognize some of these old SD-cards.

2)  There are wireless solutions. I have several, but I have hardly used them. They may be access points with a USB port. They require you to change to their wifi network. File access may be through a browser or through a dedicated app. They may also be access points (also to be configured as repeaters) with a USB port or an SD-card slot. My latest device is a mifi access point (cellular to wifi) that can also be configured as a wifi repeater, featuring an SD-slot (under the hood). These devices tend to have a rechargable battery, and I think that at least one can also be used as a power bank (to recharge your iPad).
Warning: I seem to remember that connecting large external hard drives (1 TB, formatted NTFS) to a USB-wifi device did work, but unpractically slow - probably too much metadata to be transmitted and stored on the iPad.

3)  And obviously there are NAS drives with their proprietary apps. I have a QNAP one, and I haven't yet thought of accessing it through a browser.

You see, I'm currently storing much in the cloud. I eventually move "old stuff" to a pile of external hard disks, using a desktop. I do want to have some gear for allowing speakers at meetings to travel light and bring their presentations on a USB stick.

Sidebar:

I hadn't heard of mifi until the other month. You may be familiar with USB wifi receivers. Mifi allows you to insert a SIM-card into that device, then use any non-cellular device on a mobile network. It may be cheaper than buying cellular-equipped iPads (but you'd lose GPS if present, I think). Huawei seems king of the mifi hill.

Hope This Helps, but do check the accuracy of my memories!  :-)

I'm looking for a solution to an export problem. What I'd like to do is be able to import and export files, music, movies etc to and from my iPad to either an external HD or an SD card without the use of a computer. Is that possible?
